The sailing area

Sail away to an enchanting, turquoise blue “island hopper's paradise”...
it’s hard to think of anywhere more beautiful in the world!

With PELEGRIN, you can explore a section of the Ionian Sea and experience a dreamy world of islands that stretches along the west coast of Greece, from Albania in the north to Peloponnese in the south.

The seven islands, also known as EPTANISOS, are:
Corfu – Paxos and Antipaxos – Lefkada – Ithaka – Kefalonia – Zakynthos – Kythira*
(*belongs to the Ionian islands, but is a long way off)

A day on board

You will be woken daily at 9 am by our “ship bell”. The “gong” also lets you know that you can sit down at the lavishly laid breakfast table – under the shade of white sails. It’s now that PELEGRIN usually anchors in the first paradisaically beautiful bay of the day. We also stop here for a while so that after breakfast, you can climb / jump from the ship into the crystal-clear turquoise water for swimming or snorkeling.

Then we put a few nautical miles behind us. You can relax in the hammock, read a book on the upper deck or simply enjoy sunbathing while the crew get to work preparing a light Mediterranean lunch for you. This is served freshly cooked at around 1.30 pm, when we anchor again in a turquoise blue lagoon – the perfect setting for getting in the water again if you so wish.

Every day, between 4 and 5 pm, PELEGRIN arrives at a pretty spot where we spend the night. Here, you can go ashore to stretch your legs... You can roam the streets of a romantic Greek village... You can do some shopping... You can savour a fruity sundae... You can sit in the shade of the trees with a glass of white wine, Prosecco or beer... You can gaze around and soak up the pleasant atmosphere. Later, when the sun sinks beyond the horizon, we enjoy dinner together (but this is optional!) in a selected taverna. The wonderful day comes to an end with a midnight drink (usually aboard PELEGRIN).

Ionian islands

Corfu

CORFU

is the northernmost and the most famous island. It is also the GREENEST of all 3,054 Greek islands (with a total of four million olive trees!)

Paxos & Antipaxos

PAXOS & ANTIPAXOS

are among the most beautiful “dream islands” in the world and in 2022 were ranked third out of 270 selected islands.

Lefkada

LEFKADA

is a quiet white rocky island and was formerly an important (Byzantine) naval base.

Info: Just one kilometre east is the small, private island of “Skorpios”, which used to belong to the illustrious and super-rich Greek Onassis family. It is now owned by a very wealthy Russian family.

Kefalonia

KEFALONIA

is the largest island and home to the unique grottos and stalactite caves of Melissani. Wild horses and goats (with “golden teeth”) also live here.

Ithaka

ITHAKA

is the island of King Odysseus (although his kingdom included all the Ionian Islands). It was from here, according to Greek mythology, that his fleet entered the 10-year “Trojan War”. The island is green, hilly, and has many romantic places as well as paradisiacal bays.

Zakynthos

ZAKYNTHOS

is a major producer of currants, wine and olive oil. Most of all, however, the island offers visitors wonderful “blue caves” and a unique natural spectacle: the nesting sites of the endangered sea turtle “Caretta Caretta” (Loggerhead), which can still be found in the Mediterranean Sea.

Kythira

KYTHIRA

According to legend, the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite was born here. The island is romantic, peaceful, and off the beaten track. It enchants with Venetian architecture and natural wonders, such as the cave of Hytra and the gorge of Neraida with waterfalls.
